What is the Magnus effect?
The force exerted on a rapidly spinning circular object moving through air or another fluid in a direction, clockwise or counter clockwise. This force is responsible for the swerving of balls when hit or thrown with spin.
How can it be used on kites?
If a kite was in the shape of a sphere you could add fins to the sides so when the wind catches it will turn the sphere and the kite will be able to generate electricity. This will be a good use in places with recent natural disaster. For example, the typhoon haiyan in the philippines, kites like this could have been used after the wreckage was done to help with creating any means of electricity for power tools, heaters, or anything else needed because the kite only uses renewable energy to generate electricity and only comes at the cost of the kite. This could also be used on oil plants up north or other industries with clear air space to power things like lights or anything else that needs electricity because this is essentially an electrical generator in the sky.

Why is this the better energy source?
Wind is one of the easiest sources of energy to harness because we are always in the presence of wind. This is a better alternative than wind turbines because they can be flown higher where the stronger winds are, they are easier to use(no mechanical maintenance), they are portable and can be set up easily without the space needed for dams or wind turbines and the cost to manufacture these kites on a large scale is cheaper than the cost of wind turbines. The Magnus effect AKA the Magnus force was found and named in 1852 by its discoverer Gustav Magnus, is a lift force with importance to all athletes who want to bend the flight of a ball. The Magnus effect is seen at work in the curved flight path of balls that are thrown, hit, or kicked and at the same time are given a spin. Golfers, baseball pitchers, and soccer, tennis, and table tennis players all work this effect to curve the flight path of the ball. The game of baseball in particular is made more entertaining by the Magnus effect. what to consider when building the kite.
